The Open Access debate has not been immune to conceptual and terminological misunderstandings. To help provide clarity JISC recently commissioned Key Perspectives to write a short briefing paper on Open Access. The briefing paper can be viewed by clicking the pdf icon below. It is also available in various different languages from the Briefing Paper section of our Open Access Archive.
At the recent annual conference of the Society for Scholarly Publishers (SSP) in Boston, Alma Swan was asked to speak on the following topic: How [and why] publishers can work with institutional repositories. The presentation reflected our belief that while Open Access – whether this is the result of self archiving or some other route – will inevitably have an effect on publishers, such changes to the business environment will also present opportunities for those willing to explore them. Our business is based upon helping clients identify opportunities and benefit from exploiting them successfully
